GB & Irish Sh Ch
Clonageera Klassique Gwendariff
Annie
Date of Birth: 9th February 1998
“The Star of the Show”
Gwendariff Irish Setters owe everything to this wonderful lady. My foundation bitch – she excelled both in the show ring and as a mother. She gave me so many new experiences.
- I won my first CC in Irish Setters with her as a young two year old
- She later become my first champion both in the UK and in Ireland.
- She produced my first homebred Champion
- She won the kennels first ever Championship show Best in Show (at both breed club and general Championship Shows) and
- to top the lot, she was Top Brood Bitch on two separate occasions.
I bought her in April 1998 from Pat and Jim Rutherford of Clonageera Irish Setter fame.
Who would have believed that this new addition to Gwendariff would have had such and incredible impact both at the time and for generations to come.
She turned out to be the fifth Champion from the magnificent mating between Crufts Supreme Champion 1995, Sh Ch Starchelle Chicago Bear and Sh Ch Clonageera Stella (herself a winner of the Top Brood Bitch competition). |

Annie had been booked eighteen months before I got her. I saw her mother Sh Ch Clonageera Stella, at Bournemouth Championship Show a few years earlier and was smitten. The famous Clonageeras had always had a beautiful bitch line of which I wanted to be a part. I am so indebted to Pat and Jim for
allowing me to have Annie. I hope she’s done them proud - she has certainly done us proud.
Always destined for stardom, Annie had a successful puppy and junior career and at the tender age of just two years she went to Midlands Irish Setter Club Championship Show and won both her and the kennels first Irish Setter CC under judge Roy Rout.
To complete the day she went on to Best in Show. (Another first for us).
| Just six days later Annie was mated to Brian and Mary Gurneys lovely Show Champion Danaway Fortune Teller JW. James is the tenth Champion from this world famous kennel. Danaway Irish Setters had always been a favourite of mine and now I planned to merge these two highly successful combinations together in search of my own new stars.
As always Annie did not disappoint. She gave us 10 wonderful puppies, and the start of a new era for Gwendariff.

The end of that year 2001 and start of 2002 saw Annie campaigned to her Irish Show Champion title, culminating with Best in Show at Bray All Breed Championship Show. We now returned to the UK in search of her second CC. Thankfully there was not too long to wait as this came in October of that year.
|
Annie gained her UK crown on home ground at Belfast & District Irish Setter Club the following June, again winning Best in Show and now adding another achievement to her ever increasing list. |
“My darling Annie
- you’ve made this all possible!” |
