This fabulous dog has more than surpassed my early hopes for him. His early show career started in style with him completing his Junior Warrant title by the time he was 11 months, collecting 2 Best in Shows and a Reserve Best in Show along the way. He won his first CC when he was just 2 years 1 month and his second came 3 weeks later. The all important third was to be added in August of that year. Harvey was now a Show Champion aged 2 years 4 months, no mean feat in such a popular breed. He was also our first homebred Irish Setter Champion.

Further CC’s were to follow that year and he concluded the year as top Irish Setter in the UK and had also added a Group 1 and a Group 2 to his ever increasing tally of achievements.

2004 saw Harvey win another first for Gwendariff when he was given the prestigious award of Best of Breed at Crufts. He gained many more CC’s that year and along the way both he and his litter sister, Lucy, GB & Irish Sh Ch Gwendariff Pop My Cork, were campaigned in Ireland. This was to prove yet another fantastic year for Gwendariff Irish Setters with both Harvey and Lucy gaining their Irish titles, Harvey winning Top Irish Setter in Ireland, Best in Shows , Reserve Best in Shows, Groups and Group placings. He concluded the year as Runner Up Top Gundog.

The Munster Circuit went down in history that year when this brother and sister team won 7 of the 8 green stars on offer as well as Best in Show at Clonmel and two more Group 2’s for Dom Perignon.

Harvey & Lucy with Diane after doing the double in Irish Setters at both Birmingham and Richmond 2005

In 2005 Harvey was lightly shown to allow his lovely sister to take centre stage. When he did attend he won 3 CC's and 3 RCC's and another Group 2. Both he and Lucy attended Birmingham and Richmond Championship shows. These are back to back shows on the UK show calendar. These two beautiful Gwendariff dogs had now made their place in Irish Setter breed history when they won both the CCs on offer at both these shows. At Birmingham Harvey beat his sister for BOB and the situation was reversed just 6 days later when Richmond show saw Lucy even the score!

The 2008 show scene is now well under way and Harvey’s currently tally stands at 27 CCs. This wonderful dog has given me so many fabulous memories, good times and unforgettable experiences. Whether in the show ring strutting his stuff or at the park running about carrying a stick or just simply lying up on his favourite sofa to see his happy face just melts me.
