Gwendariff Whippets
Gwendariff Whippets were established in 1991 with the purchase of a beautiful seven week old silver brindle puppy from the Collooney kennels of Ms Vivienne Coulter. ‘Blaze’ as he was christened had four white socks, white up through his chest and that lovely white symmetrical blaze through
the middle of his head. This wonderful dog was GB & IRISH CHAMPION COLLOONEY SILVER FOX. He was the first Whippet champion for the Gwendariffs and indeed for the Collooneys.
This beautiful moving Whippet won his first major award in Northern Ireland by becoming NI Puppy of the Year in
1992 and culminated his career by winning a total of 9 CC’s and 2 RCC’s. He was also a Finalist at the very prestigious events ran by Pedigree Masterfoods – 1997 Finalist in the Champion Stakes Competition and 1999 Finalist in the Veteran Stakes Competition. What a fantastic start Blaze has
given us in this our first hound breed. His legacy still continues through to the current dogs we are showing.
The kennels current stars are featured herein – ‘Field of Dreams’ having won the Reserve CC at Crufts 2006. He still continues to win his way through the
classes and kennel mate ‘Love Me Do’ also has a Reserve CC. Both these males are still relatively young but are certainly making their presence felt.
To date Gwendariff Whippets have stud book entrants well into double figures and have also had four other Reserve CC winning stock.
Puppies are occasionally available and all stud dogs are available to suitable bitches only.
“These superb natured, most loving ‘miniature greyhounds’ have made such an impact on our lives. There’s no such thing as retirement now!!” (Albert & Marlene Ritchie).
